pulling the covers back over my head

"Let's save the human race, let's finish off the U.S. empire"

Can't we just go back to worrying about the Internet tubes?

what would Emily Post do?

I'm without power again. Started sometime about 1am last night.

On my way into work this morning, drove past two utility trucks. They looked like they were enjoying their coffee. Good for them.

Scruffy, hungry, a little pissed

We lost power last night about 7pm. It's 7:30am now on Wednesday - it's still out. They're estimating service will be restored around 2pm today. Can't wait to get home from work to throw out a fridge full of food.

At least the storm cooled the air down a bit, still sucked trying to sleep.

The only thing good I can think of is that for the past 12 hours, I wont have to pay the exorbitant 59% rate increase we just got hammered with.

Opt Out dammit!

I ordered free business cards from vistaprint on Thursday. "Free" as in - only pay for shipping, and they print their logo on the back of the card.

Today (Tuesday) I got a call from "Web Site Pros" asking how I promote my business and if I'm interested in marketing my business. Guy barely spoke English, I had to hear him mumble "didjoo ordercardsfrom bistorint?" four times before I figured out what he was saying.

Damn, that's pretty f$^%ing fast. I already opted out of emails, but nowhere did it say anything about opting out of phone calls. WTF is that about? I guess that's what you get for ordering "free" business cards.

I didn't even order them for myself, I got them as a gift for a friend.

Burgers with a side of crayons

Met jillibean today for lunch at a Delaware tradition - The Charcoal Pit. Was nice to actually meet someone I only know from blog reading. Was also nice to get out of the house for a bit.

One, I'm hoping my idea of going to Charcoal Pit wasn't a bad idea. We get there and she says she's not really a "fast food burger" type person. ~forehead slap~ I should have remembered reading on her blog about Weight Watchers points and South Beach Diet.

Two, I was pretty distracted having my daughter there. Paige was well behaved, but even so, it's hard to have an adult conversation. Maybe I should have figured out a way to get out for a night. Something just as casual, but able to concentrate on a conversation.

Overall, it was a nice lunch. Didn't seem to be enough time though. Felt like I did most of the talking, even though I kept having to stop mid sentence to pick crayons from off the floor (then remembering where I left off). Also had to keep switching from toddler-speak to adult-speak. I wonder how much of an idiot I sound like in public? Hehe. I love my daughter, but I know I get some goofy looks when the two of us are in the supermarket.

Thanks again, jillibean. I had a good time.

Totally tubular

The internet is made of tubes.

How can people this stupid become Senators? Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) explains that:
* The internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck. It's a series of tubes.
* "No one can charge anyone for massively invading this world of the internet".
* I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?

'Cause if you don't kill Captain Stupid
